The actress began playing Kayleigh Morton in ITV's soap opera Coronation Street on March 2007. The show continued to air until September of 2008 at which point the Morton family left Coronation Street. Barden began her career in 2007 when she appeared on the comedy drama Mrs Ratcliffe's Revolution. She portrayed Pea in the stage production Jerusalem, a production at London's Royal Court Theatre. The play was then transferred to Apollo Theatre West End.
